Quality & inspection
Keycap quality control.
Quality isn't a final gate for us — it's checked at every stage, on measuring equipment, against a standard you approve. Here is how we control it, so you know exactly what "inspected" means before you order.
Inspection: AQL sampling, level agreed per order. Where: in-line at molding, printing and packing, plus a final pre-shipment check. Measurement: CMM and optical comparator for dimensional accuracy. Compliance: RoHS / REACH available. On request: inspection records, pre-shipment samples, and third-party inspection support.
Inspection happens in-line, not just at the end
A single final check catches problems too late. We inspect on an AQL sampling basis at each stage — molding, legend printing and packing — with the acceptance level agreed with you before production starts. A final check is done again before the order ships. Catching a defect at molding costs a few caps; catching it at packing costs a run.
What we check
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Switch-stem fit | Caps must seat firmly on real switches without cracking |
| Legend alignment & sharpness | Off-centre or fuzzy legends are the most visible defect |
| Colour match | Verified against your approved Pantone / sample standard |
| Wall-thickness uniformity | Affects feel, sound and durability across the set |
| Surface & texture | Consistent finish row to row, no flow marks or blemishes |
| Warpage / short shots | Molding faults that must be caught before printing |
Measurement, not just eyeballing
Dimensional features are verified on a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) and an optical comparator, so tolerances are measured against numbers rather than judged by eye. This is how a new tool is qualified before mass production and how we hold consistency across a long run.
Compliance and documentation
We can supply RoHS and REACH compliance documentation, inspection records and pre-shipment samples or photos, and we support third-party inspection if you arrange it. If you're vetting suppliers, our guide on how to choose a keycap manufacturer lists the QC questions worth asking any factory.
FAQ
Do you do AQL inspection?
Yes — AQL sampling with the acceptance level agreed before production, in-line at molding, printing and packing plus a final pre-shipment check.
What do you check on each keycap?
Stem fit, legend alignment and sharpness, colour match, wall-thickness uniformity, surface finish and warpage — dimensions verified on a CMM and optical comparator.
Can I get inspection reports or samples?
Yes — inspection records, pre-shipment samples/photos, RoHS / REACH documentation, and third-party inspection support on request.
